Prayer – Vessels of Mercy

God of Mercy,

As you have forgiven us
so you send us forth
to bear your message of mercy to all.
Give us willing feet and gentle hands.
Bless us with listening ears and searching eyes.
Endow us with understanding minds.
Ordain us with with compassionate hearts.
In our acts and in our words
make us fessels of your mercy
to reach out to the broken
on behalf of the Father who wipes away our debts
as loving as He wipes away our tears
and calls His children home.
Help us lift your people in body and spirit.
And so make every year a year of mercy.
Amen

New Logo!!

Logo Winner

St. Hubert Church now has a new logo chosen from 17 offerings. About half came from our parish family (5 of those were from children!) and half from outside our parish. Of those, one came from the Baltimore area and two from India.  We would like to thank everyone who submitted an entry, they were all wonderful and unique!

Our little contest generated quite a bit of conversation about who we are as a church and how we want the community to see us. Personally I was surprised by how well the children’s entries did. Several conversations seemed to center around the concepts of “professional” vs. “friendly” with many prefering either the very formal or the much less formal.

This new logo will be incorporated into a re-design of the parish website, the bulletin and every flier, poster, letter and email our church produces. This way people from all over the south end will come to see the link between such diverse activities as Taize and Highway Trash Clean Up, the Ecumenical Choir Concert and Potato Bagging.

Thank you again to those who shared their talent, and thanks to all whose votes guided Father to this selection.

Blessing of Lands and Hands

Whidbey Faith Communities join to bless the land and the hands that cultivate food for the community. Fr. Rick Spicer led the blessing. He was joined by other ministers: Pastor Mary Boyd of Langley United Methodist, Rev. Nigel Taber-Hamilton of St. Augustine Episcopal, Joanna Macy of Unity of Whidbey, Dennis Reynolds of Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island, and Tom Ewell of the Whidbey Friends Meeting (Quakers). Thirty three people joined in procession from the Bayview Corner, prayer and song for the sprinkling rite in gratitude for the abundance of creation.
