If you are interested in participating in any of these ministries or if you would like more information, please contact the Parish Office at [email protected], and you will be put in touch with the Lead of each ministry.
Altar Server
Altar Serving
Servers carry the cross, the processional candles, hold the book for the priest celebrant when he is not at the altar, carry the incense and censer, present the bread, wine, and water to the priest during the preparation of the gifts or assist him when he receives the gifts from the people, wash the hands of the priest, assist the priest celebrant and deacon as necessary. Additionally, Servers respond to the prayers and dialogues of the priest along with the congregation. They also join in singing the hymns and other chants of the liturgy. To find out more about the responsibilities of an altar server, please visit the USCCB.
To be an altar server, one must have received their First Communion and be willing to undergo training.
Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion
EM of Holy Communion
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion serve at all of the weekend Masses and special liturgies.

Greeter
Greeters
The job of the greeter at St. Hubert is to greet people at the door, usher people to their seats, take Mass counts, and take up collections. Additionally, in the case of an emergency the greeters are the ones who take charge of the situation.
Lector
Lectors
The lector is instituted to proclaim the readings from Sacred Scripture, with the exception of the Gospel. He may also announce the intentions for the Universal Prayer and, in the absence of a psalmist, recite the Psalm between the readings. From the USCCB.
Most Masses at St. Hubert consist of two lectors dividing up their responsibilities. The responsibilities of a lector are to process in with the Gospel at the beginning of Mass, read the first and second readings, and the prayers of the faithful.
Music
The Choir
Music is an integral part of Catholic worship and liturgy. If you are interested in joining the choir to sing or to play an instrument, contact the parish office at [email protected]. Then we will put you in touch with the choir director.
There are three ways to participate in this ministry, as a cantor, a choir member, or an instrumentalist.
Cantors are the leaders of sung prayer during Mass. More than just soloists, cantors guide us in actively joining the celebration with our voices. Thus, the cantor’s role is both musical and liturgical.
The Choir Ministry expresses joy and reverence through singing. When singing during the celebration of Mass, we are reminded of the saying, “One who sings prays twice.”
If you are an instrumentalist, consider offering your gift of music in celebration at St. Hubert. This can include playing alongside the choir.
Sacristan
Sacristans

Besides assisting the priest, sacristans serve the entire community. The sacristan helps all the liturgical ministers – lectors, Eucharistic ministers, altar servers, etc. By helping the ministers do their jobs, sacristans provide an atmosphere for the congregation to participate fully, actively, and prayerfully in the Mass.
Sacristans gain a deeper appreciation and love for the Mass and the rites of the Church, and a greater understanding of the liturgical year.
